Do you have to be a 501(c)3 organization to apply for a grant?
Yes, applicants must be incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization.  Federal law prohibits us from making donations to individuals, non-US charities, for-profit organization, or self-dealing.

What is your deadline for submitting a grant?
There is no deadline on applications as they are accepted and reviewed continually.

Where do I mail my grant proposal?
Barney’s Friends, 1590 Algonquin Rd.  #201, Hoffman Estates, IL 60192

How long before I hear anything, or how long does the process take?
Barney’s Friends will send you a letter confirming receipt of your grant proposal.  The Board of Directors meeting discusses proposals, and you will be informed about the status of your application in 60-90 days, or as quickly as feasible.

How much funding is available from Barney’s Friends?  Is there a minimum or maximum?
Barney’s Friends has an annual amount it is required to grant each year.  That amount changes each year, and also depends on the number and type of projects it is supporting.  There is not a minimum or maximum for which to apply, as long as you understand that Barney’s Friends may elect to provide funding for only a portion of your project.

Our organization has already received a grant.  Can we apply for another?
Yes, but generally there will be a 12 month gap between grants for same organizations.

What kinds of animals does Barney’s Friends support?
Those categorized as ‘domestic’ animals: dogs, cats, birds, horses, and select domestic pets.
